Urine Drug Collection Service

Options Lab provides urine specimen collection services at our testing facility in Appleton and aligned clinics in Eagle River, Green Bay, Oshkosh, Minocqua, Rhinelander, and Wautoma.  All of our specimen collectors at our Appleton location are trained and certified to provide collections for federally-regulated testing programs.  In addition, our specimen collectors undergo regular training, proficiency testing, and quality control audits.

Options Lab provides these two basic types of urine collection services:

DOT/standard: Collection protocol designed to minimize the potential for sample adulteration while being minimally invasive.  Several processes are in place to ensure specimen integrity including toilet bluing agent, securing the donor's personal belongings prior to entering the collection stall, and limited access to water.  This type of collection procedure is appropriate for employment testing, testing for high schools, and some types of compliance monitoring programs.

Direct Observation: Collection protocol designed to eliminate the possibility of sample tampering with additives and sample substitution.  In addition to protocol followed in our standard procedure, the sample collector accompanies the donor into the collection stall and visually confirms the urine stream is originating from the donor.   This type of collection is recommended for drug court programs, testing for criminal justice purposes, drug and alcohol treatment facilities, and under certain conditions, for employment testing.  Options Lab has both male and female staff available at most of our collection sites to accommodate direct observation testing requests.
